Adding Funds to PayPal

Adding funds to your PayPal account is actually very simple. PayPal makes it so that you can add funds to your account either from your checking or savings account through electronic funds transfer.

The first thing you need to do is click on the Add Funds box on you’re My Account page. This will take you to another page that will give you a brief explanation of how you can add funds to your account. And of course, there is no charge to do this. After all, they are getting to use your money so why would they charge you to do this?

Anyway, when you get to the page, you’ll see a link that says “Transfer Funds from a Bank Account In…” and whatever country you’re registered with. Some countries have restrictions on this so you’ll have to check with PayPal if electronic funds transfer is available for your country.

On thing I want to make a note of here. They say it will take 3 to 4 business days for the money to actually appear in your account. From my personal experience, it is never this long and usually no more than a day or two at most.  But in any case, give your self plenty of time for the transfer.  In the end, it is going to take as long as it takes.

Continuing on, if you click on that link, you’ll be taken to another page. On this page you will see the bank account that you have registered with PayPal. I will explain how to register a bank account in another article. Check to make sure that the bank account is correct. You’ll only see the last 4 digits of the bank account number. Under the bank account will be a box where you enter the amount that you want to transfer from that account. You can enter any amount that you want. Just make sure that you have enough in your account to cover the transfer.

After you enter the amount, click on the “continue” button. You’ll be taken to another page where you will confirm this amount. After you confirm this, the transfer of funds will be in process. The money won’t actually be credited to your PayPal account until the money is actually received. So don’t try to make any payments for anything using your PayPal balance until the money clears.

In your overview page it will state that this process is pending, meaning that it isn’t completed yet. If you don’t have a bank account already registered with PayPal, you can actually add one right in the “add funds” screen. There is a link that says “Add Bank Account” where you can add one on the fly. This is a very nice feature in case you forgot that you hadn’t already added an account or you want to add a different account to transfer funds from.

Next we’re going to move on to the withdraw funds section of the site.
See you then.
